Girls on the Run is a life-changing empowerment program for 3rd-8th grade girls that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. At the end of each season we celebrate the girls’ achievements by hosting a fun, family-oriented 5K run that is open to the entire community. Completing the 5K gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The absolute most important part of the celebratory 5K is FUN. Crossing the finish line is a defining moment when the girls realize that even the seemingly impossible IS possible.
Since the focus of the 5K is on effort and personal improvement – not competition or performance – this event is not chip timed and results will not be posted after the event, although there will be a clock at the start and finish line for anyone that would like to track their individual performance. Additionally, finisher and age group awards will not be given — because for this event EVERYONE is a winner!
