Dog Days of Summer Series

The Harford County Running Club’s Dog Days of Summer Series begins on June 7th with the Bel Air Town Run. This free summer series for HCRC members features 14 running events through August 30th and many volunteer opportunities. The series is designed to keep you motivated and connected with fellow runners during the hottest months of the year.

Join the Challenge

There is no fee or registration required to participate in the Dog Days of Summer Series. You can register for each individual run using the registration links on RunHarford.com or in the Facebook events. Again, these runs are free to participate in.

Earning Points

To complete the series, you must earn 9 total points through participation in events, volunteer opportunities, and our community plogging initiative. Of the 9 points, one must come from plogging.* The remaining 8 points come from a combination of running or walking at the DDoS scheduled runs and volunteering. You must earn at least 2 volunteer points. Members who complete the series will earn a Dog Days of Summer premium.

Required Points:

-9 total points

-1 plogging point

-at least 2 volunteer points

-no more than 3 virtual run points

Virtual Participation

We understand that summer is the season of travel. As such, we allow you to complete 3 DDoS runs virtually if you are more than 50 miles from the location of the club’s run. You are able to complete the virtual run at any time during the date of the event. To earn credit for your virtual run email hcrcraceseries@runharford.com with a screenshot of your run no later than Monday at noon following the run.

Whether you’re training for a fall race or simply want to maintain your fitness routine with the support of our running community, this series offers something for every runner and pace.

*We have updated the plogging requirement from a 5k to 3.1 miles or an hour in duration, whichever comes first.
