Thank you for allowing me the distinct honor of serving as President of the run club. We’ve had a busy and successful 1st quarter! I am surrounded by a remarkable and enthusiastic board and have had so many great ideas brought to me by each of them as well as many club members. We completed the Snowflake Series and the swag item is on order. The Snowflake series provided the opportunity to run 83.3 miles all over Harford County be it road, trail, or a combination of both. We also wrapped up the running of our club 50k – HAT! How lucky are we to have Susquehanna State Park (Zach’s park) in our backyard. While I earned my very first DNF, I loved seeing so many members out on the course or volunteering. Our Spring calendar is now full and we are excited to be kicking off our next challenge with Dog Days of Summer at the Bel Air Town Run. I hope to see many of our members running or volunteering at our club’s premier 5k! As of today, we have 690 runners signed up with a goal of 1,000. Help us get there by spreading the word.
I would like to thank Bart Rein for leading our Tuesday night trail run every week. Trail runners are finally ditching the head lamp as we have sunlight. I would also like to thank Rob Storey for leading our pub run every Wednesday night. Shout out to club member and IBCo owner, Phil Rhudy, for the t-shirt challenge that many club members are now participating in. Phil appreciates the growth of our club and as such is happy to be putting on this challenge allowing our members to earn a free t-shirt! We couldn’t do what we do without these amazing club members dedicating their time to the club! And last but not least, we want to recognize Karen O’Brien and her partnership with the club to bring her longstanding Run First, Coffee Later runs under the the HCRC umbrella. Thank you, Karen, for your commitment to the club and continued leadership of the Saturday Coffee Runs with your partner, Jackie Monteleone.
We have already had our 2nd quarter board meeting and have lots coming up to help us keep running through the Spring! Track season has kicked off and I want to thank our track committee Juda McGannon, club coach Jackie Monteleone and Sarah Romano who along with me will be leading track this season.
I love running and I love this club and our amazing passionate members. I look forward to putting in many more miles and smiles with each of you!

The Dog Days of Summer Series
The 2025 Dog Days of Summer will kick off with the Bel Air Town Run on June 1st. There are a few changes that are happening this year to help make the Series and the premium more accessible to all club members.
Any member in good standing with the club may participate and earn a DDoS premium. To complete the Series you must earn 9 points. Eight of those points must come from a combination of participating in runs and volunteering with a minimum of two volunteer points. For example, you can participate in five runs and three volunteer opportunities to complete this requirement. The final point comes from completing a 5k plog by September 1st.
New for this year, we will be offering a virtual option. To complete a run virtually:
We are also very excited to offer a walking option this year! This will be led by Joy Mowbray, our former treasurer. The walking route will be posted the week of the event and will start and end in the same location but the route will vary slightly from the running route.
For more information about the DDoS series, please visit the DDoS event page here.
