2025 HCRC Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer Series was started in 2019 to help fill our calendar during the heat of the summer and give our members motivation to.leave the treadmill behind. The 2025 Dog Days of Summer Series will begin on the June 1st with the Bel Air Town Run and will end on August 31st.

The 2025 Dog Days of Summer Series is FREE for all members.

Earning Dog Days of Summer Series Points

Club members must earn a total of 9 points, consisting of any combination of 8 points from participation points and volunteer points with a minimum of 2 volunteer points, and 1 plogging point. For example, you may earn 5 participation points and 3 volunteer points to earn your 8 points.

Participation points

• Participation includes running at the event, helping a run host, or cheering for fellow runners the entire event

• May 3 OTF Catch Me if You Can 5k
• May 10 Havre de Grace Music Boosters 5k
• June 1 Bel Air Town Run
• June 8 HCRC Plogging Event
• June 19 Torch Run 
• Adopt A Highway – Date TBD
• Hosting a DDoS run

1 Plog Point 

Plogging comes from combining, “plocka” in Swedish “to pick up” and jogging. Get fit and at the same time clean up; it burns more calories than conventional jogging and is much more rewarding. • • Run/Jog your favorite 5k route and pick up trash along that route.
  • Keep your GPS tracker on so we can see where you cleaned and submit a screenshot of your tracker along with the trash you picked up to hcrcraceseries@runharford.com
  • Share your plogging adventure on social media with hashtags #goplogging #ploggingHCRC
  • Complete any day during the series before EOD Sept 1.
  • Note: Cannot be combined with a scheduled DDOS run.

VIRTUAL OPTION FOR DDOS

We know that the summer is busy with vacations, so we are bringing back a virtual option to keep you motivated and expand our HCRC footprint!

• Members must be more than 50 miles away on race day
• Must be ran on race day
• Must run the same distance as the scheduled DDOS run
• Must post a selfie on club page with HCRC merch if possible
• Email screenshot of run to hcrcraceseries@runharford.com 

• Will be lead by Joy Mowbray
• Will start and end at same location but will have a slightly different route
• Route will be posted the week of the event
